Rider Participation Registration Form & Waiver

Release and Liability Waiver (Adult Participant & Minor Participants)

Event Date: September 19, 2026  

By signing the agreement box below, you acknowledge and agree to the following legally binding terms:

1. Risk Acknowledgment

• Inherent Dangers: Horseback riding is inherently dangerous. Horses can behave unpredictably, regardless of training.  

• Acceptance of Risk: You voluntarily participate at your own risk and assume all danger of property damage, severe injury, or death resulting from trail conditions, weather, other participants, or equine behavior.  

  
  

2. Release of Liability & Hold Harmless

• Full Release: You release the Muskegon County Trail Riders, Harbor Hospice (Hospice of Muskegon County, Inc.), their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and sponsors (the "Event Organizers") from any and all liability for injury, loss, damage, or death connected to the event.  

• Property & Livestock: You will make no claims against the Event Organizers for any damage or loss to your horse, vehicle, or personal property, and agree to hold them harmless from any resulting legal demands.  

• Liability Cap: If a court holds the Event Organizers liable despite this waiver, their total collective liability is strictly limited to Fifty Dollars ($50).  

  
  

3. Participant Responsibilities

• Safety & Gear: You agree to maintain your equipment in proper working order, follow all ride rules, and handle your horse safely.  

• Helmets: Helmets are strongly recommended for all adult participants.  

• Medical Consent: You consent to receive emergency medical treatment if injured and accept full responsibility for all associated costs.  

• Media Release: You grant the Event Organizers permission to use your name, photographs, and video captured during the event for promotional materials.  

WARNING: UNDER THE MICHIGAN EQUINE ACTIVITY LIABILITY ACT, AN EQUINE PROFESSIONAL IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY TO OR THE DEATH OF A PARTICIPANT IN ANY EQUINE ACTIVITY RESULTING FROM AN INHERENT RISK OF THE EQUINE ACTIVITY.  

BY SIGNING BELOW, I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ, FULLY UNDERSTAND, AND VOLUNTARILY AGREE TO THIS ENTIRE WAIVER AND RELEASE. 

Register Minor Rider

Youth Waiver and Release of Liability (Minor Participant Only)

I hereby permit my minor child to participate in the Horses for Hospice Benefit Ride on September 19, 2026. In consideration for their participation, I, on behalf of my minor child and myself as parent/legal guardian, release and hold harmless the Muskegon County Trail Riders, Hospice of Muskegon County, Inc. (Harbor Hospice), and all associated employees, directors, volunteers, and sponsors (the “Event Organizers”) from any and all liability, claims, or demands for injury, death, loss, or property damage resulting from or connected to my child’s or their horse's participation.

Should a court impose liability despite this waiver, I agree that the Event Organizers’ total liability shall be strictly limited to Fifty Dollars ($50).

I fully acknowledge that horseback riding is an inherently dangerous activity involving unpredictable animals, unmanaged open trails, and various terrain risks. I voluntarily assume all risks of injury, trauma, or death inherent in my decision to allow my minor child to participate.

I agree that my child will wear a required helmet (for riders 18 and under), use equipment in proper working condition, follow all event rules, and behave safely. I consent to emergency medical treatment for my child at my own expense and grant the Event Organizers permission to use my child’s name and image in promotional materials for the Benefit Ride.

Camping Registration

Muskegon County Fair Association Camping Rules and Regulations

1. DO NOT park in any campsite other than your own.

2. Driveways must be kept open at all times for fire lanes. No parking in designated fire lanes.

3. Camping units must maintain a minimum of 4 feet unobstructed pathway around each camping unit.

4. Campfires – Contained campfires are allowed at south campground campsites.

5. No alcoholic beverages or drugs allowed in the Muskegon County Campground.

6. Campsites are to be kept clean.

7. Campers must take their own garbage to the dumpsters located at the NORTH end of the fairgrounds. DO NOT dump garbage in the manure dumpsters/ bunkers.

8. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Dogs camping must have their proof of immunizations available upon request. Any aggressive or loud dogs will be asked to leave. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet. Dogs are NOT allowed in any of the buildings except service dogs. Violation of this rule will result in removal from the fairgrounds/ campground.

9. No generators allowed. No loud music/noise after midnight.

10. No off-road vehicles are allowed on the fairgrounds.

11. The fairgrounds are not responsible for lost or stolen property. You enter the fairgrounds at your own risk; the Fair Board is not responsible for any injuries sustained.

12. No person shall disturb, destroy, deface, alter, or remove any part of the fairgrounds, land or any building, sign, structure, equipment, utility or any other property-violators will be prosecuted.

13. No littering.

14. No fireworks, firearms, or other weapons.

15. No solicitation/selling, or handbills without Fair Board approval.

16. Disorderly conduct will result in a permanent ban from the fairgrounds.

17. The Fair Board reserves the right to refuse admittance to anyone.

18. Bicycles and skateboards are allowed only in designated areas of the fairgrounds.

19. Camping fees do not include admission fee to any paid event occurring on the fair grounds.

20. Horse stalls must have pine shavings for bedding.

21. Please use manure bunkers to clean stalls.

22. HORSES MAY NOT BE TIED TO TRAILER OR IN AREA IN THE CAMPGROUND.

Stalling

1. One horse to a stall.

2. To protect horses health participants are required to use a minimum of 1 bag of wood shavings per stall Participants can bring there own bagged shavings or a bag can be purchased in advance for $8.

3. Horses cannot be tied overnight to trailer

4. DAY RIDERS MUST RENT STALLS

5. Stalls must be cleaned after event.

6. Check-In: Stalls must be stripped and checked out by 11:00 AM on Sunday.
